ONE SMALL INCIDENT WILL CHANGE OUR FATE. CAN WE DARE???
Hi
after seeing this saga for last 2 years, i came to the above conclusion.
We have to do some thing to get the whole nation attention.
It will be very small task for citezens/gc holders.
Can we take their help to get nation attraction.
We can do the following decent things to get the whole nation attraction.
Resources: Placards, display material, aprons shows that we belong to non-immigrants coomunity
1) 1 to 2 days display about our problems in washington, near to senate/house/white house,with our aprons
(Placards, small tent is part of teh play)
2) One day absence from the work
3) Blood donation camps by all teh non immigrants,with our aprons
4) CIty clean programs by all teh npn immigrants, with our aprons
5) Participate in some community programs to help poor/old/childs, with our aprons
Any takers to do this small thing.
Ofcourse it shd be done in teh lead of citegens/GC holders.
As H1 's can definitely not do it.

In my case **** sucking gulti (tamil) employer is deducting $300/month for me when in reality I am not covered. They are just sucking it freely. Sigh. I am tired of fighting with them over each & every issue - I strongly believe Karma will take it's course and punish them their dues.
Please don't generalize a problem and scold some one based on race,sex, ethnicity and linguistic basic, this is really a sensitive matter and it may offend someone.

Here is my case:
7th year H1 extension expring Feb 2008
I-140 approved in 2006
485/EAD/AP notices received 2 week go.
Now the questions are...
1) What is the advantage of getting H1 extension(once I get the EAD) ? Is it worth ?
2) What is the risk of changing employers after 180 days?
3) What if I continue on H1(same employer) even after getting EAD and if 485 denied ?
4) What if I change my employer and 485 denied ?
5) If my 485 denied and Can I stay as long as my H1 expires(same employer) or has to leave the country immediately?
Any answers or other suggestion would be greatly appreciated........

I signed a contract with them last year ( May 2008) which says that i have to stay with company for one year. and after that i need to give them 2 weeks notice before leaving otherwise need to pay them 15,000 dollars. does that contract still valid??
I am not sure, they gonna pay me my salary once they know i am leaving them. They always delay salary as much as they can. maybe in my case they will make some excuse and will not pay me. Let See.....what will happen.

We are tracking the number of approvals in another thread. But we also need to know how many eligible members are out there. the ratio of these numbers will help get valuable info as to the %age of approvals.

I am quite certain that my company has negative net assets. Some colleagues close to HR told me that my company might be in debt. This is just hopeless for me now. I have to accept my fate and move on. Maybe I am not destined to stay in the US after all.

Pickle, I wish you all good. One suggestion though. Don't decide by yourself to accept the fate. Talk to well established, top class attorney, they should be able to analyze your case and your company's financial state and who knows they may be able to present the case very well and get it approved. My friend law is all about interpretation and presentation.

I am confused. Everyone is talking as if this is some progress. But what is the difference between this news and the one IV has on headline? Haven't we already known that the bill is introduced?
I had the same question when I first read this... but did not bother to reply... Immigration-law has reported this news as breaking news but this was already known to IV since before the bills were introduced.

in addition to the same-similar requirement of the new job, it also needs to be a 'permanent' one. I am not sure if this temporary/contract job will qualify for that. Check with an attorney before you take up this offer.
Doing it on the side part-time using your EAD while you are working for someone else fulltime should be ok in this regard. Having only this contract position can be potentially troublesome...
Here is what AC21 law says

FYI, As someone earlier posted, you cannot beat the IVians in bulletins. Even before the sep bulletin went live on the website, people posted the bulletin info... People called the number of DOS and knew the dates beforehand. It seems the info obtained through phone preceeds the bulletin posted on the website...:p

Moorthy.com has drafted a petition to send to the law makers to increase the H1B cap! I don't remember they have done anything to help us in the Green Card process, apart from charging hefty fees for filing the papers!
It makes business sense for them, if all the H1 holders get their GC in 6 months where will they make money by filing for renewal and extension. Yes, they need more H1B!
IMHO, most lawyers would love to have many H1B's b/c they are a cash cow for them too, with money in initiating/transfering/LC-->GC. Whereas, once GC is done its curtains!!!

My lawyer didn't even give me any tracking number neither confirmed that my package reached USCIS. So I am pretty much like you without any information.

And as always, there is an employer dependent part here. The old I-140 should not be withdrawn before you port the PD to your new petition.

I take this as a step in the right direction. Least USCIS is thinking of helping people. The very people who need help desperately. I can understand the agony and frustration of other people who are waiting for over a year to see their I140 getting approved. But if you think practically what can we acheive with 140 getting approved our 485 applications (for people with 140 pending) are good 2-3 years away (least) I am not talking about substitute cases filed before may 07. So only consolation for us is that with 140 approval we are one step closer to the GC dream other than that the wait does not stop us from working or doing things we were planning to do. If you work for a financially strong company you can use your EAD without any worries since they can answer any A2P queries easily.
