NSC is taking almost an year to process 140s .. I totally understand your situation ... There is a sliver of hope though I read somewhere that 140s with older priority dates are being adjudicated faster than the ones with newer priorirty dates...
Hopefully your 140 is from a company with strong financials and documentation.

Check with your employers insurance agent. Agents can provide you information on how to split up coverage to get a better deal.
This will depend on your state as well.
If nothing else works, check with your state insurance board, states run a pool for folks who cant join a big group. Being a part of such big group will get your benefits at a marginal cost than what you are paying now.
From experience, being with a small group(insurance group) its very painful and you end up paying a big chunk.

I read this one and only sharing it. If you dont like it, please ignore and move on.
In the turbulent, toss-about world of work in America, all kinds of people are worried about getting fired. Who among us hasn't seen a helpful, smart, hard-working person get laid off? Being let go is not for last-place performers anymore. Everyone is at risk.
Can you avoid the pink slip? You can sure try. While no one may guarantee you a gig these days, here are five expert tips on making yourself indispensable.
1. Talk Directly to Your Manager
Lay it all out on the table and sincerely ask for advice from your boss about your situation. You're not asking them to butter you up or paint a rosy picture. You're asking for the truth.
Ron Mitchell, career coach and founder and CEO of New York City-based Gotta Mentor, advises, "You should take control of this process. In this meeting you should ask two questions. First, what can I improve upon? Second, what additional things can I do to help you do your job better?"
Is it kissing boss booty? Maybe a bit, but your manager is likely under a lot of stress, too, so finding ways to help them and make them look better means you're less likely to be sent packing.
2. Learn Other People's Jobs
It sounds calculating, but it's true. If you can do the work of two, you have a better chance of out-staying your peers. As with any worthwhile fitness program, you must cross-train for greater strength and resiliency. Sean Ebner, regional vice president of the IT outplacement firm Technisource, emphasizes why this productivity makes a difference, saying, "Make it so that two people would have to replace your work effort, not just half of a person."
And, once you pick up some new skills or strengthen old ones, let people know. Executive coach Peggy Klaus says, "Connect the dots for people and show them how your strengths can be utilized in other departments, capacities, or fields."
3. Be Profitable
If you're not clear how your work either makes the company money or cuts costs -- or both -- you'd be wise to figure that out soon. If you need help, talk to trusted friends, coworkers and even your boss. Letting your boss know that you're trying to improve your contribution to the bottom line can't hurt. Plus, it's a reminder of how essential you are.
Klaus says, "Be certain that the results you are focusing on and producing are the ones your boss and company value most. Translation: efficiency, cost-cutting and revenue."
4. Toot Your Own Horn -- Loudly!
No one appreciates arrogance, but staying quiet about your contributions isn't wise right now. Whatever you do to move the company forward -- stay late to complete a project, have a great call with a client, train someone else in a new skill or improve your output -- make sure that your boss knows about it. Your resourcefulness and willingness to work hard are attributes most managers want to keep in-house.
John M McKee, founder and CEO of BusinessSuccessCoach.net, says "Successful professionals don't wait to get noticed while they toil away on a project."
5. Rise Up and Take Command
Amidst the devastation that layoffs leave behind, you have a unique opportunity to collect the remaining pieces and move quickly into management. As Allison Hemming, founder of The Hired Guns talent agency, says, "Be the phoenix. This could be your opportunity to rise to the top." She recommends that when departments are combined, "Take advantage of a re-shuffled deck. Management will be looking for new leaders to prevail."
Plus, that way, when the company is back on its feet, you'll be a time-tested veteran who helped lead everyone through the worst of times. Your job could be more secure and well-paid than ever.
Some Layoffs Simply Are Inevitable
All advice aside, don't be too hard on yourself. Many experts agree that you can only do so much to protect yourself from a layoff. Sometimes, even your best won't be enough.
Ron Mitchell reminds you to chin up and stand proud should that moment come. "One thing this current job environment has taught us is that no one is immune to layoffs. Companies have for the past few rounds of layoffs been cutting bone not fat. They are laying off people that have been doing a good job."

My friend's cousine got his GC 6 months back. He did meet and send mails to individual senators continously for a year and finally he got his GC. So this is true.
Sounds like he got it in due course of time.... and as someone already pointed out it may help if you are stuck in name check for a very long time and your dates are current.
Did he get his GC while his PD was outside of the "current" date (Visa Bulletin)... is the question? if he did then i want to meet this friend of yours :)

I am also NSC->CSC->NSC July 2007 filer. I just came back from Infopass appt. They took my and my wife's receipt notices and went inside. She checked everything and came back. She told me that our FBI name checks and Biometric checks are completed and everything is clear. It is waiting to be assigned to an adjudicating officer. She said that you can hear from them anytime. There is nothing else we can do now. Just need to wait......

Even though it was for a future job, there is no way any body would have visualized that the job they claim will be available in 5-7 years will be actual there given the economy. If that was the case all GC based on future job will be hard to get.
The point here is "Did the employer have good intention while filing". If they did, I dont think whether the job actual exists after 5-6 years or not matters.
Also everybody has a right to livelihood and if you have a good reason to believe that your job is in jeopardy and can document it, you always can go back and use it as an argument.
DOES ANY BODY KNOW EITHER DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY WHO HAD ISSUES AT NATURALIZATION BECAUSE OF QUITTING THE JOB AFTER GC. or is it a myth

The stay period to become a US Citizen based on Marriage based GC is 3 years. Also if mother becomes a US Citizen then the kid becomes a US Citizen automatically. This information can be found on USCIS website.
As said by other posters its best to consult a good immigration attorney.

My friend's company just outsourced nearly 100jobs to India. They interviewed here for positions and then all of a sudden jobs sent overseas. All to save almighty dollar. All this keeping manager happy is bull. They do not have anything in their hands. They are worried about their jobs. We are all number in excel sheet. The sooner we realize that the better off we are. Its all about budget for specific department.
Eventhough things mentioned in original article may not help, it surely cannot harm to follow them. It will always help to follow those advice. Company budget and policies are not in your hand but things mentioned above are in your hands. I think one major thing that lacks is networking. If you network aggressively then chances are you can land a job sooner.

New information about NSC-CSC-NSC transfer cases. The infopass IO showed me her monitor where my Priority date has all zeros. She guessed this is why NSC is not picking up my case for approval. My wife's also the same. And sad part is that, they can not rectify this. Only a NSC IO can rectify this if you open a SR. And I know how easy that is - just last week a NSC IO barked at me. Only God can help me now!
-------
PD: May 2004
485 RD: July 2, 2007
Iam one of those unfortunate people whose 485 transferred from NSC>>CSC>>NSC. The above information could be very well true, coz we did not see any approvals for such transferred cases. I had called the Nebraska Service center twice, but was lucky only the second time to get an IO who informed me about the Biometrics not being associated to the 485.
After that there was on LUD on my application on 08/11.
Since that ive been waiting patiently hoping to hear something. But the above information about the PD info having all Zeros makes me worried and nervous about missing the boat. Its been more than 7 frustrating years going through this GC ordeal.I had high hopes when the dates became current. :(

There is always a slight risk in going to a consulate that is not in your home country. They could reject ur application, and you would have to go from that consulate's country to your home country's consulate. That said, I have gone to Canadian consulate in the past and had no trouble. To me the decision is based on how easy it is to get it done at my home country.

Thanks for the info and sure I'll post the info once I've it.
You can definitely continue to work for ur current employer.
All you have run into is an RFE, that's all. For all you know it could be something unrelated too.
Anyway, do keep us posted on what the RFE is about.
Also ur date is EB3-03. Interesting that they are picking up your case and working on it.

I filed WoM in December, 2006. NC was pending since April, 2004 (waited for a PD (May, 2002) to become current before filing Wom, but now I believe I did not have to wait for PD to become current). I think without Wom I'd still be waiting (I-485 was filed in March, 2004).
It's not necessary to wait 2 years to file Wom.

Hey lostinbeta, I adore your Flash banner. Easy on the eyes, and fun to play with.
Sorry, wasn't mean to sound like I was attacking you, just though I'd give anyone who was interested a short lesson. :)
Have you seen pixel art using the chunky pixel technique? It's sort of like a cross between blocky, and structured dithering. I think the first time it was used was in the very early 90's, on a Sylvester Stalone portraite. That shook the graphician community I tell ya.
